End of year college fashion show 8th June 2017

To finish off the college year in style my classmates and I hosted a one of a kind fashion show, showcasing all of the amazing work created in our final year at college. We had been organising it since the start of the college year in August right through to the last minute on the day. I had no idea how difficult it would be organising a massive event like this, especially when people were dropping out last minute. We were all extremely stressed, but we powered through it and it was so worth it. All photo credit goes to our sideline photographer Duncan Holmes. Thanks for the speedy uploads Duncan!

We had a range of garments on display starting with our collection for COS. For my collection I showcased my paneled floral dress and my ladies pinstripe suit. I kept the dress quite commercial with the only additional feature being the black fabric belt I also made to match with it. For the suit I created something that was runway worthy with exaggerated volume in the jacket sleeves and culotte hems, but it was also still very wearable. I paired my suit with a green linen top and black heels. My collection was very professional, something I imagine a client would wear to work or at an interview. I had my friends from school Eilidh and Hannah model my garments because they were they perfect size and stunning ladies!

The second run showcased the jackets we made for our graded unit project. My jacket design was an edgy, punk rock style lined denim jacket with band patches scattered on it. I designed this jacket to stand out from the rest with its over the top design features. I got so many compliments for this one which made me extremely proud.

There was a break half way through to bulk up the show where we had Lorna belly dance for entertainment. She was absolutely amazing and blew the audience away.

After the break I strutted my stuff in the corset I made. Its hard to see the fine detail but I used a black paisley pattern fabric with black binding. My corset was kept very simple compared to others. The way I styled it on the runway it looks almost sporty and I'm kinda loving it!

To end the show with a bang we showcased our most impressive garments from the year which were the Bridal/Evening wear garments. I had a beautiful lady (Who I unfortunately cannot remember the name of) model my red evening dress and she looked absolutely stunning in it. This dress was made from a rich, wine red dutchess satin. It was backless and had a high neck. It tapers at the knee and flares at the hem to give a fishtail effect. This is by far one of the best garments I made this year.

As well as modelling my own garments I also got to model some really beautiful pieces designed and made by my fellow classmates. It was such an honor to wear these clothes, they were so stunning.

COS organza top and teal shorts by Nicola muir

I died for this top. The ruffles on the neck and sleeves looked very flattering.
COS Pinstripe jacket and shorts by Cara Fraser
I felt bomb af wearing this outfit. It looks very high fashion and sleek.
Bridal dress (hand embellished) by Shaymaa Alzeri
I adored this wedding dress. I felt like a princess wearing it. The embellishment is incredible.

It's only appropriate that I include some honorable mentions that were my favourite pieces from the show.
COS White of shoulder top with teal trousers by Hevar Hassan.

This outfit for me was very fashion forward. I like that it looks boxy yet still flattering to the models figure.
COS White ruffled top with teal trousers by Cara Fraser

I love the volume in this top and the high waisted trousers. This is a great colour combination.

Graded Unit white cape sleeve jacket by Roisin Johnstone

I love that Roisin did something completely different with the sleeves here it looks very stylish.
Graded Unit mustard yellow coat by Meriel Kerr

This colour is so beautiful and different and I can really appreciate the attention to detail in the collar.
                                                   Golden corset by Savannah Boreman

The detail in this corset is impeccable and I love that she made a matching skirt that goes beautifully with it.
Purple corset with floral detail by Nicola Muir

I love the colour pallet for this corset and the hand made ruffle flower details are so well made.

Bridal seperates with tulle trail by Chloe Johnstone

I love the concept of serperates for bridal and the lace detail in the bodice is just to die for.
Lace off shoulder dress by Rebecca Anderson

I love how couture and high fashion this dress looks. It looks amazing on the model.
A massive well done to all the students for creating such fashion forward, beautiful garments. All photos from the show are available on Duncans facebook page and more will soon be available on our main photographers page: Fix8 Photography Scotland by Scott McEwan.

So I hope my readers enjoyed this blog post! Which garment was your favourite and why? I would love to know.

Until next time,

Introduction

Hi all and welcome to my "new" blog!
I had this blog before and decided it was too messy and unorganised and I wasn't really feeling it, so now I am writing a better one that I think viewers will enjoy and I will enjoy writing.
Laura Rose?: My first name is Laura, my middle name is Rose. I prefer using Rose as my second name on social media rather than my actual second name, just for a little separation between my real life and online life.
Fashion?: I'm currently in my third year of university studying fashion business. It is a subject I am so passionate about, as cliche as it sounds. It makes me so happy to think of a design, put it on paper and turn it into a reality. I love impressing people with my designs and selling good quality, handmade fashion accessories to customers all round the world through my Etsy store. I want to post on my blog about my own garments I have made, and the garments I buy. I am a strong believer that fashion should never be disposable, so I love up-cyclying my clothes when I get bored of them, and when I grow out of them I pass them on to others.
Lifestyle?: Well other than my choices of clothing in my life I have other things I am passionate about. I love gaming, tattoos, piercings, traveling, cooking, music, playing guitar, baking and drawing, makeup, hair, nails, art in all forms. I have so many things in life that I enjoy and can't wait to share them with everyone on my blog.
Beauty?: I am not a beauty guru by any means, but my other big passion in life is makeup artistry. I love the way makeup products make me feel and how it can completely transform me as a person. I love good quality makeup and being able to treat myself to it on a special occassion. I will be making plenty of room in my blog to show off makeup and skincare products I think are worth the mention. I am not the best at applying it but I know that by conversing with the beauty community through the power of blogging I will be able to learn more and more.
I want blogging to turn into a whole new experience for me than I ever knew it to be before and hopefully this can be one of my new passions.
Thanks for letting me introduce myself to you all, and hope you enjoy my blog.
